I am Jo Elliott, a private Lancashire-based clinical child psychologist. I have extensive experience working to improve the quality of lives of children, young people and their families. I may be able to travel to meet you, and am available to work evenings if this is more suitable. I work mainly in the areas of Preston, Chorley, Lancaster, Blackpool and Blackburn, but may be able to travel further. Whilst being a parent can be a very rewarding experience, it also has its challenges. These challenges can become more difficult to manage if a child has emotional, behavioural or sleep difficulties, and more complex if a child has a developmental or learning disability.
I help parents and their children to manage these challenges so that they are more able to enjoy family life. I aim to improve the well-being of children and families, and to help them achieve their potential. My approaches draw from evidence-based behavioural, cognitive behavioural, solution-focused and systemic theories. This ensures that I meet the individual needs of the child and their family, and that my approach fits with their culture, beliefs and values. Possibly you are finding that looking after your child is more tiring or stressful than you had hoped, or maybe you just want to know more about their specific strengths and difficulties and how to help them. If I feel that another psychologist or therapist would be more able to meet your individual needs I will be able to advise you on a suitable alternative within Lancashire.
